RULES

Objective
The objective and purpose of the competition is:

  • to allow Lady Golfers to have the opportunity to compete
  • to develop Ladies Golf in the Caribbean

Teams

The competition is an annual team event for the Dessie Henry Trophy conducted by stroke play over three days at the Caribbean Golf Classic.  It is competed for by teams of four amateur Lady golfers, each of whom has attained the age of 30 years on or before the first day of the Caribbean Golf Classic, selected by each of the Member Countries of the CGA.  At least two of the team must be Ladies whose handicap index is 15.1 or higher

Eligibility
The amateur golfers chosen by the member countries to represent their country must have been female at birth and meet one or more of the following criteria:

1.         born in the territory of the member.
2.         not born in that territory but resident there for one full year prior to the Championships. 
3.         citizens of that member.  Exception: Citizens of the United States of America are only eligible to represent Puerto Rico or the United States Virgin Islands if they also fulfil the residency requirement in paragraph 2 above.
4.         approved by the Council of the Caribbean Golf Association as suitable to represent the member by reason of their special connection with that member.
N.B.     Any player who attempts to qualify for selection for one member will not be permitted to play for any other member in that year.

Expenses
The country nominating a player may (but is not obligated to) pay the reasonable expenses of the player in attending the competition.  Reasonable expenses would include air transportation to and from the event, hotel accommodation and meals.

Format
All competitors compete equally and no handicap allowance is given.  Teams compete in a modified Stableford competition using the same points allocation as the Caribbean Golf Classic.  The aggregate of the highest three individual scores per round completed will count towards the team total.  The winner will be the team with most points after the conclusion of the tournament.

The order of play shall be determined by the order of play within the Caribbean Golf Classic.

The players will also be competing in the Caribbean Golf Classic. 

Rules of Golf
The competition shall be governed by the rules of golf as laid down by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews or the United States Golf Association (dependent on applicable rules where the competition takes place) together with such local rules as may be agreed by the Rules Committee.

Practice
An official Practice Round shall take place the day before the competition starts.

Substitution
Player substitution can be made for any team up to the first starting time of the first round only.

Tees
The tees from which each of the team members will play will be those from which she is required to play in the Caribbean Golf Classic.

Rounds
The tournament shall be over 54 holes (3 rounds); however, should circumstances make it impossible to complete 54 holes the tournament may be determined by the results of 36 holes but on no account less.

Ties
In the event of a tie, the trophy shall be held equally.

Replicas
The players of the winning team will be presented with a memento replica of the trophy.  In the event of a tie, additional replicas will be acquired as necessary.

Uniform
Players may be provided with playing uniforms by their country but this is not obligatory.

Rule Changes
Any proposal to change the rules of the competition must be presented to the CGA Council in writing via the Secretary of the CGA who shall distribute copies to the member countries.  These proposals must be received by the CGA Secretary ninety days prior to a CGA Council Meeting.  The proposal(s) would then be acted on by the Council after discussion and possible amendment by majority vote.

Standards
The championship is integrated into the Caribbean Golf Classic and the Standards and Protocol are the same as those prescribed for the Caribbean Golf Classic.
